Promoter had nothing but praise for the Manchester-born star who was knocked out in the fourth round

Eddie Hearn has refused to comment on Anthony Crolla’s next move after the British star lost to Vasyl Lomachenko in Las Vegas.

The 32-year-old has had an eventful career and has hinted it’s coming to a close sooner rather than later.

He was despatched in the fourth round of the bout by the Ukrainian, considered one of the best pound-for-pound pugilists around.

But so soon after such a tough loss, his promoter was unwilling to speak about what might happen next.

Asked what the future held for Crolla, Hearn was in a contemplative mood.

He told talkSPORT: “[Anthony Crolla has] had a career where, financially, he’s done excellently.

“He’s achieved so much. He’s won a world title, he’s defended a world title, he’s secure for life, his children are secure and it couldn’t happen to a nice guy.

“He’s been completely through the levels of the sport. He lost to a journeyman in his ninth fight, he lost in the Prizefighter semi-finals, he was basically retired and then went on this amazing run.

“He had the incident with the burglars – everyone knows it. He won the world title but only got a draw, he got the rematch, won it, defended it, tried to unify it against [Jorge] Linares, beat Ricky Burns in battle of Britain, came back, won a final eliminator and then fought Lomachenko in Las Vegas. What else can you do?

“I would never make a decision straight after a fight like that.”
